Profitable Inventory Items

by admin on Sep.13, 2009, under Merchanting, Serious Guides

There are several inventory items that make fast profit. I keep multiple ropes, climbing boots, mortar and pestles in my inventory ready to sell. Stand at the GE and when you hear buyers asking for an item it is usually because they are willing to pay a high price for a fast sale. These itmes that only cost 2-12 gp will sell for 2-5k. It is often possible to sell potions to players for good profits as well.

Strange Fruit

by admin on Apr.18, 2009, under Merchanting, Serious Guides

Unfortunately lots of people collecting strange fruit equals a massive price drop at thegrandexchange. They are now selling at half what I rceived, around 1.5k. Here is the graph: http://itemdb-rs.runescape.com/viewitem.ws?obj=464&scale=1

July 17th 2009
Strange Fruit sure fluctuates in price. It is currently around 5k but it has been over 9k! I say pick some up wherever you are holidaying on Karamja and watch the ge charts for a good time to sell.

Where the Strange Fruit Grows

by admin on Apr.15, 2009, under Merchanting, Serious Guides

Jagex must like the strange purple fruit that once popped up in random locations. They sowed a crop of them on Karamja. If you don’t like the taste yourself, sell them on the GE for over 3k each.

A Good Day at the Office

by admin on Apr.08, 2009, under Random Ponderings

Finished Smoking Kills quest at long last. Now I get slayer points for each slayer mission I complete after the first five, which, for some reason, don’t count. So I am doing easy tasks from Mazchna to get them out of the way quickly. He got all red-faced and said I am too strong for his monsters, but I wore him down and he gave me a task. One down and four to go! Wiping out 47 vampires without getting biten, realised a long term goal – 70 attack! Race back to Canifis bank to get out my dusty whip. Check my achievements page to see me flicking it at a few hungry werewolves. (Amazing I have any blood left at all today!)

So… a little summary

  • Defeated a hideous wailing banshee… 1 quest point, slayer reward system, 5k slayer xp
  • 1/5 of the first 5 slayer tasks done
  • 70 attack!
  • A new toy to play with. This whip has been quietly sitting in my bank (when it’s not being leant out). It probably muttered ‘about time’ when I wielded it instead of leant it .

Care for a swim?

A trip to Oo’glog once yielded a nice profit and numerous stat bonuses. I was buying orge tops and kilts at 60gp and selling them immediately on the GE for 112gp (kilt) and 125 (top). This little sideline seems to have closed up, as current GE prices for tops are 54gp – a 10% loss – and kilts are 60gp – you get to break even! So this avenue is a dead end now. With lots of clicking you can still buy orge wigs in the hairdresser for 50gp and sell them for 698 gp (1296% profit).
I have heard raw bird meat advertised as a good money-earner. I found it buys and sells for 17gp.
So why would you travel all the way to Oo’glog? Well finishing the As a First Resort quest lets you own a pet platypus, and swim in all sorts of stat-boosting pools. A nice hot Thermal bath will boost your hit points by 7. Getting muddy in the mud bath boosts hunter by 7, and a sulphur dip adds 7 to your prayer. You can also prepare for God Wars in the Bandos pool or get some unlimited run time from bathing in the salt-water pool.

Disarmed, Disrobed and Decidedly not Dangerous

Shed your weapons and armour and board the boat for Entrana. Here you can pick up free vials (2-4) on the counter of the herbalist’s hang-out and fill the rest of your inventory with vials for only 2 gp each from the good Brother Frincos. Fill them at the sink (one click filling!) and sell on ge for 88gp.

Planks spawn at the northern part of the isalnd and sell for 199 gp each. You can kill unicorns or chickens while you wait. Fresh eggs are in the chook yard and make 53 gp each.

Entrana also has a sandpit if you want to collect sand, but it only sells for 137 gp and you have to bring your own buckets. Nearby is a free glass blowing pipe (retail 11gp) so you could make glass here if you remembered the buckets. Seaweed is north western point and furnace near the sandpit. Molten glass usually sells quickly.

Combating Arachnophobia

Brave the eight-legged evil red fiends in the Varrock or Karamja dungeons to collect their eggs. Sell them for 384gp each.

Dungeons (Taverly) and Dragons

If Spiders are no trouble, try Dragons. This is money for nothing if you are fortunate enough to have 70 agility. Collect the blue dragon scales from the ground in the dragons’ lair and sell them for 630 gp each. Don’t have 70 agility? Then take the key! (The one that is always dusty no matter how many times you put it in your pocket!) and an anti-dragon shield. (Special offer for the month of March – free anti-dragon shield for readers of my blog).

Potato Cactus

These good earners sell for 900gp each. You can run in, collect spawns and run out without any combat training if you want, but the kalphite lair is a fun place to take your cannon and a melee weapon and go for it. If you are staying here, I take a staff to use the fairy rings (AJQ), antipoison and light source (needed) and some food. Don’t take too much like I often do, or you won’t have room to fill your pockets with pricklies! Saw my friend Sir JK76 here on a slayer mission tonight. =)

Swamp toads

These slippery blighters hop around the swamp west of the Grand Tree in the Gnome Stronghold. They sell for max (429gp). Some people pull their legs off. This form of entertainment will lose you around 100gp per toad.

King worms are best left to maintain the toad population. They sell for 23gp.

Wine of Zamorak

This sinister brew is yours for the taking at the Chaos altar west of the Goblin Village and Ice Mountain. It sells for 900gp each. The Zammy monks are some what possessive of their home brew, so bring food.

Steel Arrows

No doubt you spend a fair bit of time standing around the GE , as I do, setting your trades. Well watch the red dots on the mini map. Steel arrows spawn here. They don’t sell that quickly, I just use them.
